Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Position in "Foundations of Multiple Representation Learning"

In the Institute of Informatics at the University of Munich (LMU), Germany, a full-time position as a PhD student is to be filled at the Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
The position is part of the MSCA European Doctoral Network "Learning with Multiple Representations" (LeMuR).
We are looking for you: EARLY STAGE RESEARCHER (ESR) Position in "Foundations of Multiple Representation Learning" (m/f/x) in Munich. Starting date 1. July 2023, contract duration 36 months, application deadline 15. March 2023.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
Objectives:
- Elaborating on the formal representation of LMR problems, which includes the description of the data, patterns, models, and predictions, and the specification of the learning problem.
- Providing suitable formalisms, such as vectorial and structured symbolic representations, as well as formalisms to specify, manipulate, and adapt these representations.
- Developing basic algorithmic design principles and architectures for LMR systems as well as concrete algorithms for the case of preference learning.
Expected Results:
- Formalisms for representing LMR problems.
- Algorithmic design principles and architectures for LMR systems.
- LMR algorithms and methods for preference learning.
Expected profile:
- You have not resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Germany for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the recruitment date (mobility rule of the EU);
- You have an M.Sc. Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related area;
- You do not yet possess a doctoral degree;
- You have a strong background in computer science and mathematics, with a specialization in machine learning;
- You have good programming and soft skills;
- You have an excellent command of the English language.
