Job Offer

The Bavarian AI Chair for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the LMU Munich welcomes applications for the position of a research assistant in the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML). The MCML is one of six national AI competence centers in Germany, bringing researchers from LMU Munich and Technical University of Munich (TUM) together on foundations of machine learning, domain-specific machine learning, perception, vision, and NLP. The position is intended for three years with a possibility for further extension.

About the Position

Automated machine learning (AutoML) denotes the vision of automating the process of engineering machine learning applications tailored to a specific task (e.g., a specific dataset, loss function, …), supporting machine learning experts on the one hand and enabling non-expert users to access machine learning technology on the other hand. The successful candidate will do research in the areas of AutoML and meta learning to build novel and innovative methods to further expand the state of the art.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related
• Specialization in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, or similar
• Fluency in spoken and written English, German is a plus
• Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Scala
• Motivation to work independently and in an international team
